Field Day 2011 was a record-breaking event for LARK. Once again,
Joe, KKØSD served as Field Day chairman. We operated 3A (three stations on alternative power) from Stokes-Thomas City Park in Watertown. We utilized most of our club-owned equipment, along with several members' equipment. Adding to the fun this year, Duane KKØKK, brought his solar power van. We were able to use this to run most of our site on solar power! This made for ideal operating conditions. Less RF hash from generators and a nice, quiet weekend. Operating trailers were supplied by Dave (KDØLJG), Chuck (KBØVXD), Laurel (KB8HMR), and The Salvation Army. Excellent conditions, beautiful weather, and plenty of operators, all added up to give us our best score ever on record. NØDL's wife brought Saturday Evening's feast, so we were all very well fed. LARK's networked computers were again used so that all contacts were logged to one central server and statistics could be viewed at any station. We also connected all locations using a custom 802.11G wireless bridge provided by Kevin (KBØLCR). Internet service was again provided by Data Truck. |
