LARK members provided communications assistance for the 2012 Hy-Vee Triathlon at Lake Kampeska. Participants swam at Stokes-Thomas City Park from the south beach to the north beach. They then exited the water, rode bike counter-clockwise around Lake Kampeska. Finally they ran south from City Park to the Industrial Park / Airport area, and back to City Park.

There were 68 contestants, and 67 were able to finish the race. LARK helped during the bike and run portions of the race by positioning around the course, monitoring the progress of racers, helping to direct traffic and bikers on the right path, and assisting during trouble. One bike rider had a flat tire and assistance was provided.
