General Information

UPDATE 10/25/09
From Ed Gray WØSD:

In September of 2007 a new DB-224E was installed in place of the old one bent inside the tower due to an ice storm. The old antenna did not have a top brace and the new antenna has a top brace which should prevent it from being bent over again. The link from the Garden City site to Wessington has never been down since 2005 when Brian N0LCL installed a MSF-5000 link radio. Since the new antenna was installed in 2007 the VHF at Garden City has never been down but it did have very limited coverage for about 2 weeks before I found out about it. Once we knew about it we immediately traveled to GC and found a bad pre-amp which we replaced.

In September of 2009 the DB-224E VHF antenna was moved from the northwest corner to the East which had definitely improved the coverage to the south and southeast. The coverage is the same to the east, northeast and to Aberdeen but is reduced NW of there.

In September of 2009 battery back up was installed at the Garden City SD-Link site. If the repeater is on battery back up the pitch of the CW ID will be lower than normal.
